Schneider and Granato (Neuron 50, 683-695) previously mapped the diwanka locus to LG 23. Sequencing of genomic clones spanning the region identified the the plod3 gene. Sequence analysis revealed mutations in the tv205a, ts286 and tz290 alleles of the plod3 gene and subsequenct experiments confirmed that these mutations resulted in the diwanka phenotype.
