Statement of Research Interest
At the Super-resolution Light Microscopy & Nanoscopy (SLN) Research Facility at ICFO we conduct research and development at the cutting-edge of several microscopy and super resolution imaging techniques. We combine different technologies to make them compatible in a multimodal imaging fashion. The understanding of complex biological phenomena often requires optical microscopy methods that can provide 3D structural information of cells, tissues and living organisms, with high spatial and temporal resolutions over a large field of view. Light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) not only excels at all these requirements but also provides a non-invasive platform where just the right amount of laser energy is deposited on the samples. We develop advanced microscopy methods based on LSFM for attacking challenging biological experiments, from ultrafast volumetric imaging of biological dynamics, or fast fluidic 3D screening of biological samples, to high resolution imaging of large cleared tissues.
