Phenotype: retinal cone cell cone photoreceptor disc membrane broken, abnormal
Note: This statement combines anatomy and/or ontology terms with phenotype quality terms to create a complete phenotype (EQ) statement. For detailed information on individual terms, click the hyperlinked term name.
Name: retinal cone cell
Synonyms: retinal cone cells
Definition: One of the two photoreceptor cell types in the vertebrate retina. In cones the photopigment is in invaginations of the cell membrane of the outer segment. Cones are less sensitive to light than rods, but they provide vision with higher spatial and temporal acuity, and the combination of signals from cones with different pigments allows color vision.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0009262]
Name: cone photoreceptor disc membrane
Synonyms:
Definition: Stack of disc membranes located inside a cone photoreceptor outer segment, and containing densely packed molecules of opsin photoreceptor proteins that traverse the lipid bilayer. Cone disc membranes arise as evaginations of the ciliary membrane during the development of the cone outer segment and remain contiguous with the ciliary membrane.
Ontology: GO: Cellular Component [GO:0120201]    QuickGO    AmiGO
Name: broken
Synonyms: burst, cracked, fractured, fragmented, hemorrhaged, split, torn
Definition: A structural quality inhering in a bearer by virtue of the bearer's components no longer being in a single contiguous unit.
Ontology: Phenotypic Quality Ontology [PATO:0001444]
