Definition: Structure in the testis formed by cytoplasmic projections of one or two Sertoli cells that surround a single spermatogonium. Sperm production occurs with in the cyst and the spermatogonium divides to generate approximately 1300 mature sperm. A given Sertoli cell is in contact with only one germ cell clone.
