Phenotype: glomerular basement membrane podocyte foot irregularly shaped, abnormal
Note: This statement combines anatomy and/or ontology terms with phenotype quality terms to create a complete phenotype (EQ) statement. For detailed information on individual terms, click the hyperlinked term name.
Name: glomerular basement membrane
Synonyms: glomerular filtration membrane
Definition: Membrane between the mesonephric podocytes and the renal glomerular capillaries. It is a trilaminar structure composed of the fused basement membranes of the glomerular capillaries and basement membrane of the podocytes. The capillary membranes touch the GBM at contact points that are separated by pores. The membrane is semi-permeable allowing water and small molecules to pass into the renal capsular space.
Ontology: Anatomy Ontology [ZFA:0005285]
Name: podocyte foot
Synonyms: pedicel, podocyte foot process, secondary podocyte projection
Definition: A cell projection of a podocyte (glomerular visceral epithelial cell) forming a foot-like structure projecting from a podocyte primary projection, that wraps around capillaries of a renal glomerulus. Adjacent feet (pedicels) interdigitate, leaving thin filtration slits between them, which are covered by slit diaphragms.
Ontology: GO: Cellular Component [GO:0098846]    QuickGO    AmiGO
Name: irregularly shaped
Synonyms:
Definition: A shape quality inhering on a bearer by virtue of a bearer's shape lacking in pattern or uniformity; for example, it may have sides of different lengths, different curvatures, or unequal angles.
Ontology: Phenotypic Quality Ontology [PATO:0005020]
