Narrow, electron-dense part of the rhoptry that extends through the conoid at the apical tip of an apicomplexan parasite. The rhoptry neck serves as a duct through which the contents of the rhoptry are secreted after attachment to the host has been completed and at the commencement of invasion. (4)
