  • suppression by symbiont of host pro-inflammatory cytokine production
  • suppression by symbiont of host pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion
  • symbiont-mediated degradation of host pro-inflammatory cytokine
  • symbiont-mediated sequestering of host pro-inflammatory cytokine
  • symbiont-mediated suppression of host pro-inflammatory cytokine production
Definition
A process by which a symbiont inhibits or disrupts pro-inflammatory cytokine signaling in the host organism, either by disruption of production, sequesteration, or destruction of at least one component of the signaling pathway. Pro-inflammatory cytokines include: IL-1, IL-12, IL-18, TNF, IFN-gamma, and GM-CSF. The host is defined as the larger of the organisms involved in a symbiotic interaction. (3)
