Name: | tract of the postoptic commissure |
---|---|
Synonyms: | TPOC |
Definition: | Tract that extends from the postoptic commissure through a curved trajectory in the diencephalon into the ventral midbrain. In the anterior diencephalon the TOP is a single tract but caudally the axons of the TPOC diverge and tend to grow in distinct parallel bundles. The more dorsal bundles extend in the dorsolateral tegmentum, the ventral bundles of the TPOC merge into the DLF in the hindbrain. |

Name: | primary neuron |
---|---|
Synonyms: | |
Definition: | Primary neurons are neurons develop shortly after gastrulation during early segmentation stages, between 10-12 hpf, before the neural tube is formed. Each neuron occurs in a stereotyped location along the neuraxis. Axons from these cells grow via a growth cone pioneering a stereotyped pathway. These axons form the pattern of the early nervous system. |
