Kay et al. (2001. Neuron 30:725-736) report mapping lak th241 to a 0.7 cM region on LG 13 between z15777 and z10582. They also mapped atoh7 to the same region using the T51 radiation hybrid panel. They cloned atoh7 from lak th241 and showed that there was a point mutation, which was confirmed by RFLP analysis.
