CRISPR mutation in lysine (K)-specific demethylase 1a (kdm1a/LSD1) does not produce defects to skeletal development in maternal zygotic mutant zebrafish larvae

Abstract
CRISPR-Cas9 technology was used to generate a mutation in exon 1 of kdm1a (LSD1). A 14 bp deletion was generated, causing missense and a premature stop codon predicted to cause a truncated protein. Mutants are viable and able to reproduce. Maternal zygotic mutants were generated and examined for skeletal phenotypes using Alician Blue and Alizarin Red dyes. No obvious skeletal defects were observed in fish at 4 days post-fertilization.
