I am a Research Director at INSERM, in charge of the group "Mechanisms of Regeneration and Therapeutic Applications" at the Institute of Regenerative Medicine and Biotherapies (IRMB). With my group we were among the first to discover the immunoregulatory properties of mesenchymal stem cells in 2002. Since, I have been interested in the mechanisms underlying these immunoregulatory properties and in the development of protocols to enhance them. I also have expertise in the zebrafish model, the study of macrophage biology during aseptic and non-aseptic wounds and the study of mechanisms associated with tissue regeneration. With my group, I have identified for the first time, through the generation of double transgenic lines, macrophage subtypes in zebrafish and determined their specific roles during the regeneration process. Thanks to this expertise, I have developed several collaborative projects with academic and industrial partners in order to model rare genetic diseases in zebrafish and to study the effect of cells or drugs on macrophage response and regeneration process.
