(C,D) At 75% epiboly (8 hpf; C; lateral view), otx2 is expressed by the forebrain and midbrain anlage of the neuroectoderm in wild-type embryos (C). In col mutants (D), otx2 expression is reduced and the anterior border of the expression domain (arrowheads) does not reach the animal pole.
