- Enables DNA-binding transcription activator activity, RNA polymerase II-specific; DNA-binding transcription repressor activity, RNA polymerase II-specific; and RNA polymerase II transcription regulatory region sequence-specific DNA binding activity. Acts upstream of or within lymphoid lineage cell migration into thymus; lymphoid progenitor cell differentiation; and negative regulation of myeloid cell differentiation. Located in chromatin and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including hematopoietic multipotent progenitor cell; hematopoietic system; liver; pleuroperitoneal region; and thymus. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in acute lymphoblastic leukemia; anaplastic large cell lymphoma; chronic lymphocytic leukemia; multiple myeloma; and peripheral T-cell lymphoma. Orthologous to human IRF4 (interferon regulatory factor 4).
