Definition: CNS white matter tract, major catecholaminergic tract that originates in the diencephalon, passes the locus coeruleus and projects through the hindbrain into the spinal cord. Dopaminergic neurons of the posterior tuberculum and lateral hypothalamus provide the predominant contribution to descending mlct projections.
